Kano State: Judges of the governorship election tribunal absent in court as they opt to deliver judgement via zoom

Judges at the Kano state Election Petition Tribunal have opted to deliver judgment via Zoom in the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to challenge the victory of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The tribunal had scheduled Wednesday, September 20, to deliver judgment in the case. This morning, security agents arrived at the venue of the tribunal and allowed only fifty persons into the venue. Many lawyers were locked out of the court. Few journalists admitted into the court were barred from making use of their smartphones or cameras.

When the proceedings commenced before 10, Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, Chairman of the three-member panel, spoke via Zoom.
