Rivers State: Gunmen Kidnapped Over 10 Persons, Including Children In Their Farms In Ahoada West Local Government Communities

The Engenni Kingdom in Ahoada West Local Government Area recorded another incident of kidnap as no fewer than 10 farmers from Isua-Joinkrama Community were abducted from their farms across the Orashi River.
The incident which has been reported to the Akinima Police Division and the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Hope Ikiriko, is said to have taken place on Tuesday, 8th August, 2023, in the noon hours of the day.
According to our source, the actual number and families affected are yet to be ascertained as at the time of filling the report. However, the following persons have been confirmed to be amongst those kidnapped. They are, Miss Omuvie Stanfast and her 4 children, including a set of twins, one Mrs. Azu. G. Ogbonna and her children{ actual number yet to be verified}, one Mrs. Okene from Odawu cmmunity and one Mrs. Laime and her children.
The suspects who are alleged to have come from a neighbouring Oshiobele community across the Orashi Rivers are said to have been responsblle for all previous attacks on the people of Joinkram communities.
A community member stated thus:
“I want to lend my voice and join the families and the community to call on the Rivers State Government, the chairman of Ahoada West Local Government and the Security Agencies to swing into action with urgency to rescue these families and the little children.”
“I want to particularly call on the Okilomu-Ibe {III} of Engenni National and Her Kingdom to visibly approach the current DPO of Ahoada to extend his services to the Engenni Kingdom and Ahoada West of the District to with a matter of urgency, rescue the victims from their suspected kidnappers” he stated.
The Police Command in the State has also confirmed the incident and have assured to do everything possible to secure the release of the victims.
