Nigerian Teenage Girl Forced Into Prostitution In Burkina Faso Declared Missing
A teenage girl who reportedly left Nigeria for Burkina Faso last December and was forced into prostitution has been declared missing.
Two Nigerian teenagers were also reportedly burnt alive on Thursday by their boyfriends in Burkina Faso.
A Catholic missionary seminarian in Burkina Faso known by the Twitter handle @Kizisonofman disclosed on Thursday that the teenage girls were taken to Burkina Faso by human traffickers for prostitution.
According to him, one of such trafficked girls who is 17 years old was sold by her mother to another woman for prostitution and she has been bleeding since Wednesday.
He said he learnt some underage girls taken to Burkina Faso by human traffickers for prostitution were crying to be freed and returned to Nigeria as they were being raped every day and killed.
He identified Bobo-Dioulasso, Nouna, Koubela, Tenkodogo, Menga and Koudougou as some of the areas where human trafficking and forced prostitution are prevalent in the country, revealing that between 2022 to date no fewer than 10 Nigerian girls had been killed in Bobo-Dioulasso alone.
He said the aunt of another 17-year-old girl asked for his help to save the teen who was said to have been deceived and sold out in Burkina Faso where she is being forced to do prostitution.
He said the victim who will be 18 years old in September left Nigeria for Galgouli in Burkina Faso last December and that for a week now, her WhatsApp had been off and nobody knew her whereabouts.
“This girl is just 17yrs. Someone lied to her and sold her out and she is in Burkina Faso here forced to do prostitution.
“Can you people help her. Her sister is worried and have given me every information on how to get her.
“Many of her type is here. Please #Nigeria_Embassy_Burkina_Faso. You people are really doing nothing about all this. This girl according to my information is depress and wants to get back to her family. Her so called madam is beating her up.
“Please call our embassy here in Burkina Faso to go after some under age girls brought into Burkina Faso to do prostitution by some wicked set of people. Rescue this girls. Some of them are crying, dying and being rape every day. Go to Koudougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Nouna, Koubela, Tenkodogo, Menga, etc.
“Between 2022 to 2023 Nigerians have lost not less than 10 girls here in Bobo-Dioulasso alone. According to some people here. These are the ones they see and buried here. Some they don’t see them but do hear about it.”
“People bringing them here are well known. @PoliceNG please help @abikedabiri can you help @MBuhari your citizens are dying here. Help.
“I know some highly connected people into this business will come after me,” he said.
When contacted, the Head of the Media Unit of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abdul Rahman Adekunle, expressed shock over the incident, saying that the Commission was not aware of such incidents.
He, however, added since it is related to trafficking in persons, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) is the appropriate agency to speak on it.
The spokesperson for NAPTIP, Zakaria K. Dauda asked SaharaReporters to send him information about the incident on WhatsApp.
He assured that NAPTIP would act on it.
