2. McLean Essiene, founder, Essimacs International Security
McLean Essiene, MSc, CPP, PCI, PSP, CCIP, (CAE, CCISO, PhD, in view) is the founder of Essimacs International Security Ltd, and a security management consultant and trainer.
He earned a first degree in Geology from the University of Port Harcourt, and a second in Environmental Management and Control, (Distinction-ESUT, Nigeria). He has a Diploma in Marine Survey (Distinction-LMA and North Kent College, UK), a Certificate in Counterterrorism (University of St. Andrews, UK), a certificate in Maritime Safety Management and the ISM Code from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy, UK. He holds the coveted Certified Protection Professional (CPP), the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), and the Physical Security Professional (PSP) credentials, and the McAfee Institute’s Certified Cyber Intelligence Professional (CCIP) certification. He has been consulting professionally in security and safety since 2012. He was one-time CSO to the Chairman of Ahoada West LGA, Rivers State, Nigeria.
He is a member of several Community-based organizations and has received several local/international awards and recognitions including NYSC 2006 Plateau State coordinator’s award for an outstanding humanitarian and community services. He is a tripartite winner of the ASIS International 2017 Young Professional’s Seminar Experience award, and a 2018 recipient of ASIS Port Harcourt Chapter Outstanding performance award in appreciation of his leadership dedication and service to others.
In 2019, he won the prestigious Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs)- Nigeria Outstanding Young Security Professional, sponsored by Edith Cowan University, Western Australia. In the same year, he was also honored by the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) with a Lifetime membership award.
McLean has been involved in nonprofit and association leadership services for over 5 years. He is a member and a volunteer for ASIS International; American Society for Association Executives (though holds the coveted ASAE’s certificate in Association management, is presently pursuing the CAE credential), and the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria.
At ASIS International, he sits on different security councils with arrays of responsibilities. He is currently the 2nd Vice Chair Human Threat Management Council and ASIS Africa Young Professionals Coordinator, a subcommittee of the ASIS Young Professionals Council. He is presently pursuing a Ph.D. with research interests is linkages between environment and security
