Speaking during his campaign visits to markets in Eleme, Barrister Wike promised that he will ensure increased enrollment and retention of less privileged children in schools to be situated in markets.

He said that he believes in the empowerment of less privileged traders and that traders will help in the development of Rivers state.

Barrister Wike said: “My commitment to the education of the less privileged children of traders is total. I will build schools in selected markets and Eleme market is one of such markets.

“Without education, we will not be here today. Therefore, my administration will take education to the children of traders in the markets. That way, they will get empowered to contribute their quota to the development of the state”

At Oil Mill Market in Obio/Akpor LGA, Wike said he will reconstruct the market and hand over the stalls back to the owners.

He said that all facilities in the market will be rehabilitated to ensure that traders trade under conducive atmosphere.

Five years into Governor Wike’s administration that is expected to last for eight years, none of those promises has been fulfilled and the people are worried. Electioneering promises should be the bond of the promissor
